Sad tale

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/darts/48267235

I cannot ever say that I have any claim to fame, but I do have one claim to being 'close to fame'!

I once played darts against Jocky Wilson! It was a part of a tour he was doing, Goddess alone knows what the date was, but it was in the Whittington pub in Eastcote in Middlesex where I and my first wife, who put my name on the list to play him without telling me until it was confirmed that I was playing, played for the pub team.

I played standard 301 double in double out as did every other pub player that night, 42 of them, I think.

Jocky played 500 up but could only score on the Bull or 25 with Bull in and Bull out.

The closest any of the boys got to beating the Man was 104!

He was a lovely man and talked to everyone who wanted to talk ti him, virtually everyone in the pub that night, he was especially kind to my grandfather-in-law who had come down from Kirkcaldy in 1940 to work at the Fairey aircraft works in Hayes, Middlesex. The old man refused to wash his hand for a week (much to his sister's disgust) and walked on air for a month.

Rest in Peace, Jocky, you earned it!
The Holy Bible, probably the most diabolical work of fiction ever to be visited upon mankind.

An it harm none, do what you will; an it harm some, do what you must!
