It is worse than shocking that some people starve here in the UK. :o

Well, yes it is, but this is not necessarily a case of that. The child was found starving because the mother was dead and unable to feed him. We don't yet know why she died.

I don't think we can say that the child was found malnourished because its mother was dead yet either.
