Well three of them were British writers, but I don't know who Crawford is/was.

Now that those doing this have all commented, the 'missing link' is Olympics men's 100m champions. I had started with that and put one each in the others, Paddock, Bailey, Wells. I had thought about doing an English writers one as well but couln't see a way of making it specific enough.

I had thought that Bolt would stand out without ever thinking of Robert Bolt. I've been experimenting with how to construct them, and I think this would still work if the base starting one - the 100m winners in this case, is by far the most obvious, and attracts the first guesses.

Hence why here, not seeing it makes the others easy, and it by elimination.

The trouble is that I saw "Greene" and immediately thought of Graham Greene. CS Lewis then fell into place and Robert Bolt followed a few minutes later. As I only had three, I left that category and did purple and orange and then I had eight things left and Crawford seemed the best option to join the "writers".

I think this is an excellent example of confirmation bias. I formed a hypothesis ("writers") and then made the clues fit.

It's very good. The green category was oddly one I had considered recently but hadn't seen a way to work it. You do have a misspelling though.

Purple was what was left. Il would have struggled more were it not that I got the theme because of reading your posts on another thread, and then some of the categories were helped by your specific comments.

4.50 from Paddington was the first Christie book I ever read. It's always been my favourite, although I think The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is her masterpiece.
