Title: Council pushes for lower speeds on M8 in Glasgow

Make it 30mph in rush hour, that will halve journey times!

IIRC, James May said that is speed went up by 10mph, the fuel used would increase  by 10% as well (possibly on the lines  of logarithmic calculations?).
There are a few roads that people used to speed along that now have average speed  cameras; they're easier to drive now and it doesn't  take me any longer.

There's also lots of stuff that suggests that s speed of around 50 - 60 mph is the most efficient, and pollutes less.
