I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

Dull and cool, like the last few days. There's a theory, based on over 30 years of daily weather data collected by an amateur weather forecaster, that there' nearly always a cold spell in or around the second week of April. Whether it's true I know not, but it's true this year.

It was drizzling earlier, the sun has come out now, and there is a breeze. I have risked putting the washing out, so await the monsoon!
