Well at least according to the New York Times. It also tests your quiz smarts a little.

Less than half what I thought that I would get! Ho hum!

18 better than me and some of those were random guesses!

I got 22/50.

But what does it prove anyway?

That you've got a good memory. So what?

I mean I've read very few of the books listed and I still got 22 - just vague memories of reviews or just knowing what some authors have written. It's proof of nothing else.

In fact as I am in a completely grumpy mood today I would say its f.....g useless.

Yes it does prove you have quite a good memory (which I obviously haven't), that is very important if you are going to work in a book store.  You need to have not only the memory but a knowledge of, and interest in, books, not only great literature but current favourites and non-fiction.  Not everyone can do it, obviously I wouldn't be able to  :).  I can imagine myself being flustered and unable to find anything  :-[.
Good for those who did well!  I haven't looked at all the scores of others but, honestly, it doesn't matter for most of us.
Let us profit by what every day and hour teaches us

By which you mean 50.

I got 5 on three of them and 3 on the other two.

I mean I've read very few of the books listed

I've read two of the books on the list: Animal Farm and Brave New World. I wouldn't have read those two if they hadn't been set texts in English Lit. at school.
