Fascinating - especially the video at the end.
Are your, or your friends'/relatives', garages, lofts or sheds full of unused DIY gear, sewing/knitting machines or fabric and haberdashery stuff?

The whole disappearing from knowledge is a fascinating process.

On a slightly different trajectory, has anyone ever heard of Sister Rosetta Tharpe - who, some say, is the real mother of rock.

I've posted some of her tunes on the Music thread before, and someone, I think it might be enki saw her live.

Hadn't realised that, NS.  There does seem to be a habit of forgetting people who predate one's own era, especially pre-radio and TV

You can enjoy some at link below. She isn't really pre TV or radio - I don't think Enki is quite that old.

I have heard of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, saw a TV documentary (maybe BBC4) about her with black and white film.  She came here and loads of young people travelled from all over the country to see her.  It looked very exciting.  She was quite an act.
