Conclave by Robert Harris

I have just read this new book and recommend it to you. It is a real page turner and has a twist you will not see coming till the very last pages.

It is impossible to say much about it without spoiling it but....

The novel concerns the election of a new Pope, all the "action" takes place whilst the Cardinals are locked up to make their decision. Along the way much discussion takes place about the issues many outsiders see as problems for the RCC; child abuse, corruption, terrorism, etc. The story ends once the election is complete and the reader is left to speculate how this radically different new Pope will affect the World, this new Pope can only be a force for great good surely? Says this hard assed anti theist.

People on both sides of the fence will enjoy this thought provoking book.
