I caught a bit of Michael Buble singing the old Beach Boys hit, 'God Only Knows', a couple of weeks ago and found myself a bit choked up by his interpretation of the song, his phrasing and slightly broken voice with orchestral accompaniment.
Watched it again on youtube: there are a few videos, one of which shows him recording the song in a studio with big windows onto the street and passers by looking through the window and taking photos. Each time I saw and heard it I was profoundly moved. It is repetitive, goes on a bit after a while, but regardless of that, I think it is beautiful.
It wasn't until during the last week that I read about his little boy having liver cancer.
