He came from money but he was capable of building his own empire and he did what he said he would do and he defeated all his opponents.
Despite the mythologising, he is not a successful businessman in any meaningful way. He's repeatedly had ventures go bankrupt, the businesses he has kept afloat there's ample evidence to show have done so through fraud, deceptive practices and simply not paying what was owed to suppliers and contractors.
There is much more to trump than others can think or know, He has the power to obtain those things he has sought through life.
No, there isn't. He's patently a shallow, vacuous, selfish, self-important, feckless, spiteful, narcissistic, racist moron. What there is, around and behind him, is a collection of wealthy, sociopathic donors with a vested interest in keeping Americans poor and stupid, who don't give a shit if there's a world-wide recession or increased warfare, because as long as they know when it's coming they can turn a profit from it.
So what is it that made people vote for him?
Lies and propoganda, over decades of underinvestment in education and a constant weakening of the courts and the governance of the media.

We can complain but he is the president.

What about his actions and the way no one thought he would get in again. May be that they cannot get anyone better in the USA now. Maybe they settle for what is best out of previous candidates.
Of the two candidates in the election race he was demonstrably the worse. Then the other candidate changed, and he was still demonstrably worse. The Republic primaries were a shit-show, and he was demonstrably the shittiest in show. They can't get anyone better in the US right now, not because they aren't there, but because significant portions of the America public have fallen victim to an elaborately maintained right-wing hoax lying to them about what the problems with their country are and what the Trumpian movement is going to do about it.
They need another JFK, but they kill anyone even similar.
No, they just needed basic competence and decency. They were the most powerful military in the world, the most wide-spread soft-power nation in the world, the strongest economy and the on the rise when other developed economies were stagnant or struggling. Now much of that - with perhaps the exception of the military - is in jeapordy.
Could be there plan at present because Donald Trump would take some beating. 
Report the truth, and spread it far and wide. Show the MAGA faithful what's actually happening - they aren't so stupid they'll vote against their interests when they're show what they are, it just needs someone who can reach them and help them understand what's being done to them, in their own name.
