A History of the World in 100 Objects

I bought this book a few years ago. One of my, then, two readers would read an object each time then she moved away, and my other reader was reading different books. She has recently been continuing the 100 Objects book. It remains consistently and fascinatingly interesting. We have about 100 pages to go and then we are going to spend a day at the British Museum going round looking at all the objects. I hope I shall be able to arrange a guide.
Anybody here read this excellent book, or been to see the objects in the British Museum?

I should add that it is extremely well written.

Susan: do you know you can have a guide for the BM? If you state your interest, that guide, after knowing your situation, can even let you have a hands on with some of the exhibits. When I was putting my assesors through torture at summer school last year as part of my Egyptology degree course, not only were we let loose in the conservation area, but we had the supreme jioy of hands on a lot of the exhibits in the Egyptian hall after hours. Some of those items can be handled with permission by visually impaired folk under supervision. Why not make enquires?
