Good or bad thing?

A bad day in my opinion. Now we'll never know if he is a rapist. (My opinion is that he is one.)

My opinion that he is a rapist is based on the fact that he scarpered at the first available opportunity after finding out that we were going to send him to Sweden. His alleged excuse is obviously bogus, relying as it does on the laughable premise that Britain is less likely to extradite him to the US than Sweden.

Sorry , you are definitely picked for the jury, the defence team will pass you with flying colours.  ::)

My reasoning is completely watertight. He'd definitely be going down.

Anyway, it is interesting what happens now. He is still in trouble because he failed to turn up to be sent to Sweden and if we nab him on leaving the Ecuador embassy for that and nobody tries to extradite him to the US, it'll show us what an unpleasant lying shit he is.

According to Wikipedia, the circumstances surrounding the initial arrest warrant were these:

Quote
On 20 August 2010, two women, a 26-year-old living in Enköping and a 31-year-old living in Stockholm, went together to the Swedish police in order to track Assange down and persuade him to be tested for sexually transmitted diseases after having separate sexual encounters with him. The police told them that they could not simply tell Assange to take a test, but that their statements would be passed to the prosecutor. Later that day, the duty prosecutor ordered the arrest of Julian Assange on the suspicion of rape and molestation.

The next day, the case was transferred to Chefsåklagare (Chief Public Prosecutor) Eva Finné. In answer to questions surrounding the incidents, the following day, Finné declared, "I don't think there is reason to suspect that he has committed rape." However, Karin Rosander from the Swedish Prosecution Authority, said Assange remained suspected of molestation. Police gave no further comment at that time, but continued the investigation.

There is much that does not add up here.

Apparently, the case wore off before he got in the Dock.

We just don't know, do we?
We were not there and to be honest it is the first I have heard.
When did all of those who have posted first know about this case?

Perhaps you can give everyone here the short version of all actual events.. Thanks.

Considering that Assange appealed to the British courts to deny the extradition to Sweden and his appeal was denied on the grounds that there was a case to answer, I think it adds up fine.

Assange then decided to break his bail conditions (leaving the guarantors severely out of pocket to the tune of £200,000) and become a fugitive. The fact that he shafted his supporters in this way should be enough to tell you he is a complete shit. The most obvious motive for doing that is that he knows he is guilty of rape.

It's a famous case.

Julian Assange was the leader of an organisation called Wikileaks that publishes secret squirrel stuff on the Internet. In particular they published some US top secret stuff leaked by a soldier now called Chelsea Manning. She has just been released from prison.

While in Sweden he had relationships with two women who allege he raped them. The most well known alleged incident is one woman consented to have sex with him only if he wore a condom and one morning she woke up to find him having sex with her without a condom.

Before he could be arrested, he fled Sweden to the UK. Sweden put out a European arrest warrant and he was arrested here. He appealed to the British courts not to be extradited to Sweden. I can't remember exactly what his grounds for the appeal was but he claimed Sweden would extradite him to the US for publishing the secret stuff.

The British courts rejected Assange's appeal and ordered him to submit to arrest for extradition. Instead of doing that, he fled to the Ecuador embassy in London and claimed political asylum. He has been there for the last five years.

The fact that Assange has refused to go back to Sweden to stand trial indicates he may be guilty of the rape.

Very true, always struck me there's more to it. Still he has tried his best to evade being prosecuted for sexual assault & personally i don't trust him one bit, thankfully I am not 'the Law' so someone else has to make decisions about him.Let's wait and see.
