The head of the Manhattan Project was Maj. Gen. Leslie Groves reporting directly to the President; scientists such as Leo Szilard* were the ones trying to prevail upon Washington not to use what had been unleashed.

Quite. But the original post implied it was religionists that were the bad guys. All I was getting at was that nutters come in all shapes, sizes and mind sets.
