I share that fear with you but think the compensations of no longer being in the EU, something we didn't get to have a vote for in the first place.

We, the U K joined the EEC via the referendum, the one I voted against, when Wilson was P M, when was this vote for the EU or any subsequent choices given to the electorate for that, now thank goodness a thing of the past, ever closer union?

The EU is the EEC. It's just changed its name a couple of times. It's also changed its constitution a few times and we didn't vote on it because that is not the way our representative democracy is supposed to work. Neither referendum should really have happened.
