Don Francisco is brilliant, went to see him when he Came to Britain, love his story telling talent in songs and he plays a fantastic guitar...

He's alive is amazing...

Dear Grace,

The oldies are the best!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bvZ76PgFgQ

Onward you Christian soldiers ;)

But then we have the best rendition of the Lord of the Dance I have ever heard!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0aEHw3vKLg

"But I am the dance and I still go on"

Gonnagle.
I will now read posts very carefully and then using the two God given brains cells that I have reply as if I am talking to a two year old, yes that should suffice as a gentle reminder✝️✝️✝️❤️

I like the Corrs' version of, 'Lord of the Dance', Gonnagle. Ta for that.

Agree with Steven about the others, so sentimental. Never heard of any of them before.

(I thought, on seeing 'You raise me up' in the margins, that it was written by Westlife (liked them)& had no idea it was a religious song!)

Songs and "worship songs", that is. Hymns are another matter - plenty of dross, but also plenty of wonderful stuff. I can be moved to tears by some hymns, but the most worship songs move me to is nausea and despair.

Regards Christian 'songs' I do like almost everything 'All Sons and Daughters' produce. An example:

Christ Be All Around Me..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmge-ycIkoo

As a hymn, 'Be Thou My Vision'

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heav’n’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

So, what happened to Grace of God?? They appeared to have joined the forum and posted 41 comments on the same day, and then disappeared. Shame, as I agree with some of his/her views.

That's subjective, Steve.
Whilst I agree that a lot of worship music today is 'pap' the same may be applied to hymnody and classical worship music of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Many of the classic hymns are simply bad theology, whist some modern worship hymns, while bang on theologically are bad musically - you pays your money....
But CCM is far more than worship music: as a young Christian (and not so young Christian), I found artists such as Amy Grant, Chuck Gerard, Noel Richard, John Pantry, Petra, Nutshell, Don Francisco and my friends Ian White and Sheila Walsh inspirational, good to listen to, and occasionally, every bit as moving as Bah or Handel - both of whom I love, but were equally guilty of writing Christian 'pap'.

Yep.
Got all their albums, been to a few of their concerts.
Joanne Hogg and Teryl Bryant (from the early line up) are still my favourite.
Eden's bridge is till reasonably good as well.

Though about half their tracks are a folk/jazz/rock instrumental, their vocal stuff is pretty good as well. Here's Iona in concert with the All Souls Orchestra; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MuethJjSex0

Some hymns are anodyne, and a few are dodgy theologically. ALL worship songs are rubbish, because it's a rubbish form in the first place: tediously repetitive, frequently contriving to say nothing at all, completely free of concrete images often, often glutinously sentimental, and frequently appalling theologically - e.g. "Turn your eyes upon Jesus", which is pure Manicheeism. The absolute and utter worst of the lot is "There is a redeemer", which makes me almost wish Melody Green had been on that plane along with her husband. Yes, that's over the top, of course - I'm just letting off steam: a few are just about bearable. None of them, though, can hold a candle to "St Patrick's Breastplate", or "Love Divine", or "And can it be", or "When I survey", or "Lord of the years", or "Had he not loved us", or "Tell out, my soul", or "Calypso carol" or "Lord of the Dance", or....
