Because you were dwelling on a terrible news report about a child. This is a grown woman who has had the courage to tell her own story and wants it known and talked about in order to make a change. Do you see the difference?

I was also thinking of Harrowby Hall's comment. There is tragedy in Ireland built on small differences. I suspect in this case the woman was 'lucky' in the North to get in contact with someone motivated to do something. If we look at what happens in terms of this in the UK, then such abuse is generally badly dealt with.

No frankly I don't. The fact that poor child was sold to paedophiles on the dark web needs bringing to public attention. In the past child sexual abuse has been covered up, as in the case of that evil pervert Saville.

The story of the Romanian woman, however, has different implications. It describes major, ongoing criminal activity which is almost industrial in its scope. Not only does it involve forced sexual activity with actual bodily harm but also kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment - and probably money laundering as well. Her treatment and conviction by the Irish police and judiciary resulted in additional punishment for her (leaving her kidnappers untouched) as well as defamation in her home community and family in Romania. I suspect that the good fortune she experienced in Northern Ireland was the result of her being interviewed by a female police officer.

My guess - it can be no more than that - is that the national brainwashing of Ireland by the RCC with its acceptance of the concept the fallen woman has not yet been eradicated.

The victim  is now faced with the problems of rebuilding her life - including her relationships with her family. I wonder whether she will be able to overturn her wrongful Irish conviction?

My suspicion is that that the real significance of this story is that it represents only the tip of the iceberg. It is not a one-off ...

So.. how many such cases are going on that no one is aware of cannot be said. We all want to believe that it is rare. If only...!
