A wonderful actor. Loved him as Blake in 'The Romantics'. He erased 'Jerusalem' as a patriotic hymn and reminded us it is a howl of rage.

Great character actor. He specialised in loveable rogues - he it was to whom Michael Caine addressed the immortal words "You're only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!". He also had an occasional supporting role in 'Porrige', as a decidedly unloveable rogue, I remember.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.
