This made me extremely angry

The vandals who desecrated this war memorial are mindless scum, who deserve to have been sent to a WW1 battlefield. >:(

It is distasteful I suppose - but it is only a few bubbles, no lasting damage I imagine.

There are more important things to get angry about, methinks.

I know it's wrong of me and it probably lowers me to the level of "mindless scum" but I found the pictures quite spectacular.

You describe sex offenders as ‘scum’ too. You really need some perspective.

Yep - I liked them too. Used to be a regular occurrence in Market Square in Nottingham until they removed the fountains. :(

What I’m not sure about is whether this is always a war memorial, or if it’s just the addition of the crochet that makes it so.

Actually, I know a case in which some were.
The Sherrif was creative. He sentenced a pair of vandals up here to raise money - legally - and go to the military graveyards in France and Belgium - on a recognised tour, and come back with reasons why they should not be charged.
They came back, ashamed, with no such reasons.
The sherrif afmonished them.
Changed minds.
