Crawling back again!
« on: January 12, 2019, 11:30:12 AM »
As no doubt some will have predicted I am back again! Each time I do one of my flounces I really mean it when I say I won't return. However, the siren voices of this forum get too strong and once more here I am. I did have a little bit of an excuse last time, as I was pretty stressed, due to my fractured right shoulder, a bad back, and my husband's health problems. The stick I was getting on this forum from certain quarters was doing my head in, it was all getting too much, hence the flounce.

I have much more movement in my right arm, and hope the fracture clinic will sign me off on my next visit at the end of the month. I need to be able to drive again, I hate incommoding our eldest girl, as she has to take us places. My back isn't too bad at the moment, and my husband is ok apart from his catheter getting blocked from time to time!

Anyway here I am part of the forum furniture, even if I am a broken down old chair! ;D

Welcome back, LR. It's easy to assume that we are always at the same place and same mood in This place and forget that life happens to us all. Glad to hear that your shoulder is getting better.

Just to echo NS's comments Floo - nice to have you back.

As a fellow leaver and returner, can I offer a small piece of advice? Next time it all gets a bit much, why not just say that you're taking a break and may return when you feel able to do so?

If you mean me, I promise not to give you stick in the form of sarcasm or other insults (well, I'll try, at least), but I reserve the right to disagree with you, with reasons and arguments of course.
Might I suggest that next time, you just stop posting, instead of announcing your departure? It makes your eventual return less embarrassing.
I hope your arm is recovering well, and that you are feeling less stressed now.

Thanks Steve. :) Of course you must disagree with me if you don't see it my way, I wouldn't expect you not to.

I'd just like to echo the above welcomes.  I also think the advice about taking days off when it gets a bit much is also worth thinking about.

My own way of coping is to just avoid the threads that I know are upsetting me, instead of getting into one of those long tedious entrenched arguments.

Anyway good to see you back, and I hope your arm soon returns to normal service.

Welcome back, Floo.

Without you - for me - this forum has a diminished spirit. I was pretty certain you would return, thank you for coming back. While you were away, Rhiannon said good-bye. I hope that she has second thoughts too.

Have I ever been any other to you?  OK, I did call you a donkey once - but then, I am an honorary toad (by adoption)!

Good to see you, I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how you and your family are.
What others have said about just taking time out without announcing it, is a good idea.

PS - up early but not for long hopefully. Glad your injuries are healing LR, was wondering about those too. It will be good when you can drive again. You & your daughter write in same style, said that already but similarity is very striking, just struck me again when I was recapping.

Thanks once again for all your kind comments. :)

Robbie, I doubt my daughter would be thrilled to have her writing style thought similar to that of her senile old mother. :D She is definitely not ecstatic when people think we are sisters, not mother and daughter! Naturally I play that one up, as you would expect. ;D

Quite right too!

However the writing you quoted from your daughter, not a serious 'thesis' type thing, was very much like how you write.

It was 'funny' that I was thinking about you and then you reappeared; had crossed my mind to send you a PM but thought that might be intrusive. I did send one to Rhiannon so would probably have messaged you too, eventually. No need now!

Someone on your leaving thread said you were going to donate money to charity if you came back....... :D

That was on a previous flounce, I wasn't stupid enough make that promise on my latest one. I donated £10,000 to charity on that occasion.

Well that was a bit of a cop out actually, I had rashly said I would donate £100,000 if I came back again. :o I would have had to spend rather a long time on the street corner waiting for people to pay me to go away! ;D

All the more reason for just quietly stopping posting next time you get fed up with the forum. You don't have to announce your departure - this isn't an airport!
