Watched the first episode. Enjoyed it though not sure there is enough for 8 episodes without it being quite slow.

Thanks for that, might watch (tho' cannot be sure).

It was something I thought might interest me at the time but other things intervened so didn't see, glad you've posted about it.

It is well done but slow, but it means I shall go and read the book once more.

I still haven't watched it and that is one book I haven't read! Maybe it's time to do so.

I remember queuing to buy the paperback on the first day it was released. It was exactly the things I like back then. It's still something of an odd bestseller with quite a lot of fairly detailed medieval philosophy and theology.

Definitely think it was a couple of episodes too long - but it had a better William and Bernardo Gui than the film. Obviously almost everything now has to have James Cosmo in it - odd that he effectively took the role that Peter Vaughan played in Game of Thrones here. Too much was, imo, made of Adso's relationship with the peasant girl who is in the book nameless and thereby more intriguing by being referenced in the last line, and the title.

I've had that book on my shelves for many years, but have never got round to reading it.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.
