PS: I wonder if Walter will miss this 'delicacy'....if the ban catches on in the UK.   ;)

I've never had it. I'm not a veggie (though I'm cutting down on meat), but fg's production method is pretty cruel, so good for NY.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

I have to admit that I have eaten foie gras - it is difficult not to in SW France. To be honest - it is what they eat in heaven.

Not far from my French home is a "foie gras museum". I have never visited it because of my discomfort at the thought of my abhorrence at its production methods. Perhaps I should do so for then I shall be better informed.

Cognitive dissonance at its most obvious.

Seb that was so interesting, I wish it would be done that way everywhere. I'm vegetarian so wouldn't be eating it anyway and before I 'turned veg', would not have bought foie gras but used to quite like some pate. If we did have ethical over here, I'd buy it if I had guests for dinner (I don't literally eat my guests).

It's delicious.

Although, to be honest, no more delicious than a good pâté.

NB I was told the foie gras I ate was "ethical foie gras". Apparently, if you give the geese all the food they want, they will eat enough to make the foie gras anyway, which makes me wonder why anybody bothers with the force feeding at all.
