Michelle Obama's autobiography
« on: November 17, 2019, 06:02:30 PM »
My older son has been reading me (over the phone on a Sunday usually) Michelle Obama's autobiography. We both wondered what it would be like and how it would work, thinking that if it became tedious or repetitive or something, he would stop. However, not only has it been very interesting and has sustained our interest as a result, but also it is very well written, with no jarring sentences or sections. So far he is about half-way through.

The other thing I wondered about was how it would change when the strongly political side came to the fore, but here again, it is managed so well that the personal life is not in any way swamped by politics.

Has anyone else here read it? What did you think? To me, she comes across as a person one would like to meet and spend time with.

I had heard she had written an autobiography. Like her husband, Michelle Obama seems to be a very pleasant person and one I would love to meet if I ever had the chance to do so. :)

I recorded the extracts read by Obama herself as a BBC serial: Becoming (5x15 minutes)

Have been trying listen to them at bedtime - but so far we have not heard more than about 5 minutes of each episode...
Ah, but I was so much older then ... I'm younger than that now
