I've just recieved a couple of short videos from my daughter in Australia of my 6 year old grandson receiving (not opening) gifts from family in England . He's such a cute kid and through my tears I could see the joy and hear his Australian accent as he thanked the senders for his presents .
I miss them so much my insides hurt 🎅🎄🎁

I feel your pain, Walter, I'm only on an overnight stay for work in Manningtree and it's painful to have to hang up on the kids when it's time for them to go to bed.

its not nice my friend ,
I spent many nights away from home when I worked in the finance industry when my kids were young . It became particularly difficult when I became a single dad .
One consolation though , all my kids have grown up to be wonderful people in their own right and quite successful .
Maybe I did something right

i remember one particular night in a primier inn (or similar) on the Coast Road out of New castle on the lead up to Christmas , there was a bunch of scaffolders staying there .
We had one hell of a time , they were a great bunch and physically fit .
If I'd been gay all my Christmases would have come at once 😂😂😂

 A particular shout out to L'Antipasto in the City of London for being a reliable place to eat, and get treated well while I was working away. It's 3 years since I was there and the Christmas card from Lando arrived yesterday with a voucher for a half price meal, and a summary of their new wine list - hand written.

Been twice to L'Antipasto, once in the City of London & seem to remember the other was Battersea or thereabouts, a while ago. V gd food and service at both.
