Bloody modern technology!
« on: January 31, 2020, 10:27:52 AM »
My craptop died suddenly a few days ago, and I've just had to fork out £169 for a new one from John Lewis, to be delivered in the next few days. I'm typing this on a public computer in the library, but won't be online much until the new one arrives.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

I look forward to your return with shiny new laptop!

You need an old-fashioned one, Steve - with a wee door where you put the coal in.

And a supply of rubber bands in case one breaks!
Sometimes I wish my first word was 'quote,' so that on my death bed, my last words could be 'end quote.'

I recommend buying a laptop, not a craptop. It's more hygienic, also a better computer.

My new laptop arrived today. Otoh, my payg credit is on the verge of running out, and I can't afford to top up until Thursday evening, so I won't be back irritating you full-time until then.

You don’t irritate me.

I'm glad to hear it.
Actually, I did top up in the end. Who needs food?

Is your only internet access via the mobile phone network then?

No, it's only by my laptop and mobile wifi, on payg. I haven't got a smartphone, only a cheapo dimphone.
