'The Planning Inspectorate had recommended Transport Secretary Grant Shapps withhold consent, warning it would cause "permanent, irreversible harm" to the World Heritage site.'

But still approved

I am wondering if a Druid, who I knew as King Arthur, is still living on the site as he did about four years ago, he was vehement about any attempts to change the site around the Circle.

The Holy Bible, probably the most diabolical work of fiction ever to be visited upon mankind.

Might be some interesting Mesolithic archaeology there (Stonehenge being neolithic) I'd like a major dig to try to connect the Stonehenge remains to the older cattle culture at Orkney; te
ntative links have been traced already.

I fear that this is not going to be that type of dig! As you note there is probably a lot more to be discovered but a road tunnel is unlikely to be it

Still around, assuming it's the same chap, though not sure what you mean by "on the site":

Quote
...
She is not the only one willing to protest. King Arthur Pendragon, one of most senior druids in Britain, says he would join her in front of any bulldozers. “Never mind Boris Johnson threatening to do it at Heathrow Airport, I have actually done it, I’m known for doing it,” he said.

Ah, but I was so much older then ... I'm younger than that now

Yes; however the archaeology extends far beyond the stones.
The interesting thing for me is that such calendar circles seem to be associated with 'cattle cultures' which developed at various times in the fourth millenium BC; similar circles - with associated cattle bones - have turned up in Orkney , Calanais, France, Spain and - you guessed it - Egypt.

Yes that's him!

Thanks for confirming he is OK and still on the war-path!

They’ll have to have an archaeological dig along the route of the tunnel before they dig the tunnel. Then they’ll have the opportunity to see what’s under the current road.
