Happy 60th birthday, Coronation Street

Haven't watched it in years but the theme tune, as Neil Brand covered The Sound of TV, is so evocative.

I also stopped watching regularly a decade ago. It's an achievement, but it isn't the great programme it was even 20 years ago. The music as you note is evocative and thankfully unchanged.

I've never watched it regularly, but happy 60th, all the same. The UK can boast the world's oldest soap (the Archers, which I listened to unwillingly in the 80s, because my late wife was a fan), the world's oldest TV soap (Coronation Street), and the world's oldest children's programme (Blue Peter). Joke: 'Neighbours' is alternatively known as 'Cobber Nation Street'.

"Yes, very."

I remember watching the programme from the start, with my Grandmother who was a Lancashire lass. I used to tease her that she was like Ena Sharples without the hairnet. ;D I last watched that soap in the early 90s.

I watch it when I can & like it, been alternately suspenseful and heartbreaking recently. Some things coming to a climax this week & we all like one of those occasionally. 8)
