Besetting sins of the left, right and centre
« on: January 31, 2021, 01:29:25 PM »
Left: permanently angry self-righteousness.
Right: sneering, cynical selfishness.
Centre: excessive open-mindedness (you can be too open-minded).
Thoughts?
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.

I am on the whole a centrist. Although I do have strong views on certain things.

Political labelling - an invitation to stereotype.
Sometimes I wish my first word was 'quote,' so that on my death bed, my last words could be 'end quote.'

Seems a bit stereotypical.
Seems a bit pompous. I said that they were besetting sins. That doesn't mean that everyone in each category has them.

You are demonstrating the self-righteousness of some on the left.

I see. You’re putting me in one of your stereotypical little boxes.
