Also watched and enjoyed it.

There are a few people who have obviously danced professionally before which always makes me feel slightly miffed, still, it's an entertainment programme primarily and any relationship to an actual competition is mostly tangential.

Another good show. Layton was superb which isn't that much of a surprise. The amount of his dance experience means that I suspect he won't win.

Indeed, it seems, more than usually, blatantly unfair.

On top of that Layton is fucking annoying, at least to me he is.

I get that it would be almost impossible in a group of the type of celebrities to have everyone with no level of dancing experience but agree this one seems a bit too far. It's not so much a 'journey', more a walk round the room.

He is pretty annoying so there's little chance of the experience being offset for the voting public.

Another great performance from Layton but he still won't win. So far no upsets in those eliminated. Angela Rippon is absolutely incredible.

I have to keep reminding myself that Angela Rippon is 79 years old. 79!!

If I were a gambling man my money would be on her.

The favourites in the betting are Nigel and Bobby. Ypu can get 28/1 against Angela Rippon though that was 40/1 just over a week ago.

This is why I'm not a gambling man.

For the results show the dance at the beginning was very Fosse heavy. He choreographed "I Gotcha"  for Liza Minnelli for her "Liza with a Z" show way back in 1972.

Have you watched All That Jazz - his autobiopic? Ages since I've watched it.

As to the gambling, I think you underestimate yourself.
That her odds have reduced substantially in theory means you could have already profited by taking the higher odds, and laying off at the lower ones. I say in theory because I don't know how liquid the market is on Strictly.

Yes. That and Sweet Charity and Lenny (Cabaret doesn't need listing surely).

All brilliant films in very different ways.

On the odds, there is a category for who will be eliminated this week. Everyone, apart from Layton, has odds. Though Ellie, Nigel, and Bobby are all at 100/1 - effectively not going to happen but possible - if they were in a dance off with Layton. It's not seen as possible that the judges wouldn't save him up against anyone.

But he's the 5th favourite to win overall because the best there is that given that it's his job, he won't have the public vote in the end.

As usual, my least favourite week. I think I'm just allergic to Halloween tackiness.

I do agree, Ellie is looking very decent. Of course, the fact that she is partnered with the very lovely Vito has nothing to do with my judgement. Ahem.

The judges need to change their scripts a bit. Anton in particular is becoming boringly repetitive.

Apparently Vito and Ellie are dancing an American Smooth to Robbie Williams' Ain't That A Kick In The Head. It's Dean Martin's, darling!

Halfway through the VT for Angela and Kai someone must have noticed he was poppyless! It suddenly appeared but I'm sure there will be complaints.

Krishnan gone. Just about right but his joy has been contagious. Angela R on bottom two again indicates tgat she's not doing great in the votes.

Ellie's romance with Vito has moved her to odds on to win. Suspect that Nigel did himself no favours in having a VT where his Olivier for best supporting actor in a musical was shown. Looks to me like Ellie, Bobby, and Layton in the final.

Layton and Nikita had the dance of the series so far. I do wonder if someone's had a word with him to tone himself down from 11.

The same thought had crossed my mind as I've found him more bearable over the last couple of weeks. And, indeed the dance of this competition.

Some phenomenal stuff tonight. I suspect that if it had been anyone other than Layton, it would have been 40, and that meant it wasn't 40 for Ellie. Indeed I think in another year Angela Scanlon would have got 40.

Bye Bye Angela Rippon.

I agree with all that. The standard does seem much higher to me this year. And yes, I can't see how Angela R will last any longer.
