What a farce!

I always wondered why there was never a proper bottle deposit scheme in the UK. We've had it over here for as long as I remember. The UK is 40 years behind.

At one time in my distant youth, we did have deposit schemes. All the "pop" manufacturers did it, beer bottles were being recycled as late as 1990 in Nottingham with one particular local brewery, and milk bottles were recycled as a matter of course.

Then came the advent of plastic bottles and supermarkets which made it cheaper for suppliers and it was all lost.

"Don't it always go to show...."

Here's this thing that's been implemented in many countries, that we basically all agree on,so we will take 9 years to do it!

The government bottled out.

"Yes, very."
