British Steel Scunthorpe
« on: April 12, 2025, 08:53:05 AM »
I recall hearing of warnings being given to Margaret Thatcher when she enthusiastically sold British assets to foreign interests.

According to her it meant that capital was coming into national resources. She ignored the consideration that it meant that strategic decisions about the use of the assets would be made elsewhere.

The British government is trying to prevent the Scunthorpe site of (Chinese owned) British Steel from being abandonned.

Thatcher's chickens coming home to roost?
Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?

...or "S****horpe", as auto-correct has been known to spell it.
I came to realise that every time we recognise something human in creatures, we are also recognising something creaturely in ourselves. That is central to the rejection of human supremacism as the pernicious doctrine it is.
