Absent Friends
« on: June 17, 2020, 01:36:23 PM »
Over the years, we have often discussed people who have stopped posting for some time.   In the case of regular posters their absence may be noticed after just a short time, whereas for others it might take a little longer. The Mod team often makes attempts to contact people either by PM initially, or then by email.

In order to keep people up to date with what we know about posters who are not posting, we are setting up this thread where we will share what we know. We would also be glad of questions and updates about posters not listed here by PM.

If people are going to be away for some time, we are happy for them to PM us with the details. People can choose to say if they want that posted here, or if they just want us to be able to say they are fine if other posters ask about them.

The thread is on the Moderation and Admin Board so is only seen by members. It will be locked so that it can only be updated by the Mod Team

Summary of current absent friends:

Gonnagle - we know is fine

Dicky Underpants - has been having a variety of computer access issues but is fine

Just to say that we're trying to contact Walter to check that he is o.k.

Just to add - Walter has been in touch and he is fine.

We have sent PMs checking that they are ok to Sassy, Gabriella, wigginhall, and Alan Burns.

So far Alan Burns has confirmed he is fine.

Wiggenhall hasn't posted since last November and our attempts to contact him but PM and direct e-mail have had no response.

If anyone has any information that might help us contact him that they are happy to share, in confidence, could they please contact one of us by PM.

We've noted that both Robbie and Owlswing have not logged on for a couple of weeks. IMs have been sent to see if they are ok.

ETA: Owlswing has logged on and kindly confirmed he is ok.

More attempts at contacting wigginhall have failed, with the latest attempts to send messages to their email address coming coming back that the email address is unknown. We fear the worst.

Just to note that we haven't see Sriram since early April and have send PMs/emails to enquire if all was well, but have had no reply to date. Owlswing too hasn't been around, and for far longer, and we've made several attempts to contact him but, again, without success.

Hopefully all is well with both them, and if either gent sees this post all we ask is that they let us know how they are - even if they don't feel like posting currently.

Moderator:

I've unlocked this thread so that members can comment if they wish to.

There are a fewer of us now, so it is noticeable when someone drifts away - people do, and of course that is their decision, but if they don't let us know (and since some of us a of a certain vintage) then there is the concern that perhaps all is not well, especially when PMs and emails get no response.

Feel free to comment.

There was an earlier query on jeremyp that got wiped out by the lost posts issue. He last logged on on 23rd May, though that log in also got lost in the data issue. We know that he has had some reasons to be off the board.

Should old acquaintance be forg9t?  Sometimes like with Leonard James the end of life sneaks up and partners and family to upset to share.  Leonard James was a really honey of a sweerheart.
Patience and time for everyone... as we get older we mellow but Leonard always mellow. We had some lovely people on the sites. :)

My explanation: a family crisis occurred which kept me off the board for a week or two. Then my partner decided I needed to relay the entire floor of my flat which we did ourselves so I had not much time for message boards. Sanity returned to my life about a week ago, so I think it's OK to come back.

Good to hear from you again. I had been wondering.

worth noting the effect of Leonard's personality - it's over 8 and half years since he last posted.
