It’s money they are owed. The player was already transferred to Cardiff. The timing is absolutely terrible though.

Agree entirely - he was a Cardiff player at the point the plane went down, and of course the only reason he was on the plane in the first place was because he'd been transferred.

Horrible timing - I agree and poor PR on the part of Nantes. I wonder too whether the deal had appearance clauses, which would be particularly tough on them if the case.
