Yes, in the days when I used to listen to music much more, that name was one that I'd listenout for.

This was sad news. I never saw him in the flesh but I do have several recordings he made - including a wonderful Elgar 2.

I learned, earlier this summer, that Bernard Haitink had a house in France just a few kilometers from mine - in a eibouring commune.
