I share your pain Steve. In one of the categories I did not realise that the term was used for an object. I thought it described more of a quantity/action. On looking it up the UK usage is very much as I thought. The USA usage is a description of an object. Obviously NS has a wider knowledge of arcane Americana than I have

Presumably the British usage came from the object.
