As an antidote to the "Favourite film" thread, name the film or films you don't like. They don't have to be bad, just ones you don't like, for whatever reason.
I'll go first: The Phantom Menace and its sequels. Why? Well, Ja Ja Binks, of course, but also because they nearly wrecked the franchise. For an in depth and educational critique, see here

Warning for BA: there is bad language in it.

I've seen some horrendous tripe in my time (although occasionally even a bad film can have something worthwhile about it, some redeeming feature) but I think easily the worst film I've ever seen, the most utterly pointless waste of time ever in the history of cinema, was Lars von Trier's Antichrist.
With a couple of notable exceptions I absolutely cannot bear musicals either.

Agree. I try to pretend they don't exist.

Mamma Mia - my grand-daughter watches this more often than is good for her, so I can't avoid it: it is excruciating (as are ABBA).
-
I have a soft spot for Abba. Mamma Mia is excruciating though.

It sinks at the end, you know.
Apologies to anyone who hasn't seen it.

When I saw it, I really was hoping they'd miss the iceberg.
I was disappointed with the minimal amount of gash that they'd shown.
No, not Kate Winslet's, the one on the side of the ship.

I genuinely didn't see Titanic on the basis that I knew the ending.

The first half you can do without. I admit that the second half - the actual sinking - is tremendously well done.
-
I did see it in the end on the tellybox.
I prefer the French and Saunders version.

You see now you've mentioned him - Tom Hanks. It's not films I don't like. It's films with Tom Hanks in that I don't like.
Ruins every one. Doesn't ever convince me or get me to suspend disbelief.
Life is like a box of chocolates - unless its a Tom Hanks film and then you know exactly what you are going to get.

I didn't think he ruined Toy Story.

I disagree. Many of his films have been great.

Artemis 81.
I wasted three hours of my youth on this pretentious turgid bollox.
I've even read the Wiki article on it, and I still don't understand the wretched thing.

Titanic. That was a load of old pony.
Titanic films never succeed. Goebbels hushed up a multi billion mark attempt when he realised it was an allegory about how bad totalitarianism is.
The there was Lew Grade's Raise The Titanic.....Grade said afterwards ''Raise The Titanic? I'd have been better off Lowering The Atlantic.''

..then there was James Cameron's one, it failed hopelessly , only grossing over a miserable 2 billion dollars. ::)

Considering that the film had Leonardo Di Caprio in it, the iceberg gave by far the better performance.

No. The sequel to Titanic is Titanic II

I agree with everything ... er .... critical that has been said about Titanic. If Kate Winslett's ... er ... gash is what I think it is, it was one of the redeeming elements of the film.
One film I could never watch again is The Deer Hunter.
-
A friend of mine knew Kate Winslet before she was famous and he says she's one of the most beautiful women he's ever seen.

I was: Titanic II is a film about a ship called Titanic II. It's not a sequel to Titanic.
-
Someone called a ship Titanic II ?
-
Someone called a ship Titanic II ?
Only in the film "Titanic II". If you don't wan tot check out the IMDB link, I can tell you the film has a rating of 1.6/10. That should give you an idea of what it is like.

Ah. It belongs in the Life's Too Short section then.

I dispute the comments on Star Wars episodes 1-3
Yes, Jar Jar Binks is unforgiveable, almost as bad as the scripts. But... and I am deadly serious now... episode 3 is the 2nd best of all six made so far.
Oh yes... I said it.
I was like you once, but then I watched all 6 films back to back and the definite conclusion was that Empire Strikes Back is by far the best but Revenge of the Sith was better than the others, based on dramatic content, action and pacing.
What was also made abundantly clear is how bad a driector and scriptwriter George Lucas is.
As for my film I don't like - Annie

One woman has a wooden leg with she attaches a machine gun too.
no... I think this makes it completely awesome!

Pretty Woman - evil disgusting meretricious bag of mostly shite

I can't see the attraction in horror films at all. Just what is it?

I'm pretty sure that riding a rollercoaster in a cinema breaks the spirit, if not the letter, of the code.

Just caught up with the rant on the podcast. Even worse that SitC2 apparently.

Horror films are best experienced round at your mate's with the curtains closed and a selection of blokes to make you scream by touching your knee unexpectedly.
Of course the appeal does wear off past the age of fifteen.
A decent creepy ghost story's another matter entirely.
-
Grease and E.T. are two movies I have never been able to watch for more than 20 mins. Needless to say I have never seen the ending of either..

All of the Rocky films
Agreed!

Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Rings. Three hours of utter tosh which I had to sit through as my friend wanted to see it. Thankfully have avoided the others in the series.

-
Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame - not because it's a bad film in and of itself, but because it so utterly misses pretty much every point of the book. It's a bad adaptation, I suppose, but so bad an adaptation that it deserves to be listed here.
O.
-
Cars 2. Cars is such a perfect family film. Cars 2 isn't.
-
Ghost - both the film and the screeching of the Righteous Brothers.
Just awful.
-
Noah!
It made him appear completely barmy with the insistence he was going to kill the twin baby girls.
Couldn't relate to the characters.
-
The Twilight Saga..... oh, pleeease!
And I had to endure all three outings.... yup, had me arm twisted by wee sis (her hubby refused to escorted her!).

ONE SHOT
Starring Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher.... Worst casting ever.
Reacher is 6' 5", has hands like shovels and is incredibly tough. Cruise is a midget.

I am Legend
They had a chance to make a genuinely good film, instead of doing that they bolloxed it up and made a film that exemplifies all the worst aspects of Hollywood and makes next to no sense (especially when compared to the book).
